Fatih: Rise of an Empire

This five-hour walking tour is the essential introduction to the Islamic History of Istanbul. It begins with the Companion of RasulAllah ﷺ, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (ra) who came to claim the city for Islam. That attempt would be followed by numerous others, spanning several centuries until victory was finally granted to a young Ottoman Sultan. From that moment onward, for a period of some 150 years, the Ottomans were unstoppable and would inherit the seat of the Caliphate.

Learn about how this great Byzantine city went from Constantinople to take on the new name of “Islambul” - the City of Islam. Experience the spiritual significance of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (ra) and why he is considered “Sultan Eyüp”. Visit an “Ottoman” neighborhood in the middle of Modern-day Istanbul and appreciate the importance of learning Islamic history from our own narrative.

This is a special tour for the Seeker who is either visiting Istanbul for the first time or is a seasoned traveler and wants to connect their hearts to this city’s past.
