Imperial: Capital of the World
This five-hour walking tour takes you into the center of the Imperial Capital to retrace the lives of Sultan Süleyman “Kanuni” (The Lawgiver) and the master architect, Mimar Sinan. It was a period when incredible monuments were constructed to reflect the height of Ottoman expansion, power and influence.
Learn about the institution of Külliye, the Islamic Mosque complex, the purpose of which was to create a charitable endowment. Explore Mimar Sinan’s first building project and compare it with the what is considered to be his greatest architectural achievement in Istanbul. Walk through the Spice Bazaar which once bridged trade between East and West and visit a mosque with some of the most beautiful examples of Iznik Tiles.
This is a special tour for the Seeker who appreciates the Islamic principle of Ihsan - to do things with perfection and beauty, and is bound to be one of reflection and remembrance.
